Waardlanden is responsible for the collection of household waste and reusable materials such as paper and glass for the municipalities of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Molenlanden, and Vijfheerenlanden.
Residents in this service area can use several recycling centers located in Gorinchem, Groot-Ammers, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Leerdam, and Vianen.
The organization focuses on maximizing the reuse of materials and preventing residual waste by promoting careful waste separation.
Products and materials are reused or recycled wherever possible, supporting responsible use of scarce resources and energy.
Waardlanden also provides clear information and education to residents about waste separation and resource recovery to achieve significant environmental benefits.
Role Description
As a Writer at Waardlanden, you will create clear, accessible, and engaging written content that informs residents about waste collection, waste separation, and recycling practices.
In this full-time, on-site role based in Gorinchem, you will write and edit content for websites, newsletters, leaflets, social media, and other communication channels.
You will work closely with colleagues from operations, communications, and customer service to translate complex information into understandable, practical messages for diverse audiences.
Your daily tasks include planning and structuring content, conducting interviews or desk research, ensuring consistency with the Waardlanden tone of voice, and aligning content with ongoing campaigns and policy developments.
You will also help monitor the effectiveness of communication materials and support continuous improvement of resident information and outreach.
Qualifications
- Strong writing and editing skills in English and Dutch, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and audience-focused texts for various channels.
- Experience creating informative and educational content, preferably for public services, sustainability, environment, or local government contexts.
- Ability to translate technical or policy information into understandable messages for residents with different backgrounds and levels of knowledge.
- Solid research skills, including gathering information from internal experts, regulations, and external sources, and verifying accuracy.
- Basic understanding of communication and content planning, including aligning messages with campaigns, seasons, and municipal priorities.
- Comfort working with digital tools and content platforms (e.g., CMS, email tools, basic social media publishing); experience with web guidelines and plain language is a plus.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate with colleagues, municipalities, and external partners.
- Organized and proactive work style, able to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and respond to current developments.
- Affinity with sustainability, circular economy, and responsible use of resources, and motivation to support environmental and social impact.
