QA/QC Engineer (MEP)

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Interpret contracts, specifications, RFPs, and tender documents for building and high-rise projects.
• Prepare quality reports, inspection reports, audit findings, NCRs, corrective action reports, and technical correspondence.
• Monitor civil, structural, architectural, and MEP work against specifications, approved shop drawings, codes, and standards.
• Review contractor and subcontractor QMS, ITPs, method statements, and quality control procedures.
• Conduct surveillance inspections and audits against project requirements, ISO standards, and approved procedures.
• Review material submittals, technical data sheets, samples, mock-ups, and supplier qualifications.
• Verify incoming materials, construction works, and completed installations against approved standards.
• Review drawings, specifications, BOQs, method statements, IFC drawings, technical standards, and local authority regulations.
• Inspect structural concrete, reinforcement, steel structures, waterproofing, façade systems, finishes, MEP installations, and fit-out works.
• Coordinate inspections and approvals with consultants, contractors, testing laboratories, and suppliers; monitor corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead internal and external audits, assess contractor compliance, and report quality performance, issues, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Monitor testing; review commissioning documents; participate in handover and final acceptance inspections; mentor teams; maintain records and promote safe work practices.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Strong knowledge of QA/QC principles, quality management systems, and quality control procedures for building construction.
• Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Knowledge of construction materials, testing, inspection methods, and quality assurance processes.
• Ability to develop, review, and implement ITPs, method statements, and quality procedures.
• Experience conducting quality audits and managing corrective and preventive actions.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, BS, IEC, NFPA, and local authority requirements.
• Understanding of structural, architectural, façade, finishing, and MEP construction.
• Analytical, problem-solving, root cause analysis, quality risk identification, and improvement skills.
• Strong communication, report writing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Aconex, Procore, BIM platforms, and quality management software.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment and manage multiple priorities.

Education and experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
