QA Engineer

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
• Develop and maintain automated test suites using tools/frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG).
• Participate in requirement reviews and provide early feedback on testability, risks, and edge cases.
• Perform manual testing for exploratory, usability, and acceptance scenarios not covered by automation.
• Create and maintain test data, test environments, and CI/CD-integrated test runs.
• Report, track, and verify defects using issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira); work with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Implement and maintain test automation frameworks, libraries, and continuous integration pipelines.
• Execute performance, load, and stress tests as needed and analyse results to identify bottlenecks.
• Ensure test coverage for APIs (Postman, RestAssured) and work with developers on contract/integration testing.
• Contribute to quality metrics and reporting (pass rates, defect density, test coverage) and drive continuous improvement.
• Advocate for quality across the SDLC; participate in sprint ceremonies and support release activities.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and help build QA best practices and documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2–5+ years experience in software QA/testing (adjust by level).
• Hands-on experience with test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Java).
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with API testing, SQL for test data validation, and basic performance testing tools.
• Familiarity with version control (Git), build tools, and cloud test environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-have

• Experience with BDD/TDD approaches (Cucumber, SpecFlow) and test management tools.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code for environment setup.
• Familiarity with security testing, accessibility testing, and mobile testing frameworks.
• Certifications: ISTQB or equivalent.
• Pay: QAR151.21 - QAR321.10 per hour
