Python Developer - Tech Lead

Project description

The programme is building a resilient, secure, production-grade platform of Python backend services, REST APIs, asynchronous processing components and external integrations, backed by MongoDB and delivered through a React/TypeScript operational user interface with auditable operations and role-based enterprise user journeys. As an experienced Python engineer, you will develop the platform's backend services, APIs, processing components and external integrations, with emphasis on asynchronous execution, resilience, data validation, automated testing and production-quality engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and build maintainable Python services and REST APIs.
• Implement asynchronous workers and non-blocking integration patterns.
• Create typed domain models and validate complex JSON/API payloads.
• Engineer timeouts, retries, backoff, idempotency and failure recovery.
• Integrate securely with MongoDB and external services.
• Create comprehensive unit, component and integration tests.
• Support code reviews, engineering standards, CI/CD and production troubleshooting.
• Contribute to design decisions and support B8 engineers.

SKILLS

Must have

• Years of experience: 10+ Must have (strong production expertise):
• Production Python: typing, modular design, SOLID, object-oriented design and design patterns.
• Production REST APIs with FastAPI/Uvicorn or comparable: contracts and validation.
• Secure development: mTLS, OAuth2/OIDC, RBAC, maker-checker / segregation of duties, secrets management.
• TDD with pytest, mocking, unit/component/integration coverage.
• MongoDB/NoSQL/relational integration via PyMongo/Motor, incl. transactional/outbox writes.
• Responsible use of AI coding/testing assistants. Independently owns complex services and integrations, contributes to technical design, diagnoses production issues and supports other engineers.
