Role overview

DXP-Pumping Solutions distributes industrial pumps across chemical, water and wastewater, semiconductor, marine, food and beverage, oil and gas, and general industry markets.

The role focuses on high-level pump applications, selection, and troubleshooting.

Engineering responsibilities

  • Size and select centrifugal, positive displacement, metering, and AODD pumps from process data; defend selections using hydraulic principles.
  • Analyze system curves, total dynamic head, friction losses, NPSH margin, cavitation, viscosity corrections, minimum continuous stable flow, and speed, impeller-trim, or throttling options.
  • Specify seals, seal support plans, sealless alternatives, materials and elastomers, motors, VFDs, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Design skid and packaged systems, including baseplates, piping layouts, pulsation dampening, valving, and overpressure protection.
  • Review vendor drawings, general arrangements, P&IDs, and bills of material before fabrication release.
  • Analyze repeat failures using field data and returned components; perform energy and life-cycle cost analyses.
  • Provide technical escalation, factory coordination, internal training, and selection standards.

Customer and project support

  • Support customers, consulting engineers, contractors, and integrators as a technical contact.
  • Review specifications, datasheets, and bid documents; correct incomplete process data and propose alternatives that meet design intent at lower installed or life-cycle cost.
  • Handle application calls and emails and prepare quotations using manufacturer selection software, catalogs, and cost estimates.
  • Follow up open quotes, price to protect margin, and coordinate submittals, lead times, and change orders.
  • Contribute to custom skid standards, engineering documentation, build procedures, costing, and lead times; support fabrication and new value-added products and train sales teams.

Required qualification

  • A four-year college degree is required. Engineering is preferred; business or another discipline is acceptable.

Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years in pump application engineering, rotating equipment sales engineering, or industrial fluid system design.
  • Pump sizing and selection from first principles; this is emphasized as especially important.
  • Knowledge of ANSI/HI standards, mechanical seals, VFDs and motor controls, and fabricated pumping systems; API 610 and 682, ASME B31.3, or NSF/3-A are a plus.
  • Industrial market experience, packaged or chemical feed systems, separators, custom skids, and distribution or pump OEM application engineering are preferred.
  • AutoCAD or SolidWorks and ability to explain trade-offs to plant maintenance managers and design engineers are preferred.
  • Preferred certifications and training include Hydraulic Institute PSAP, Pump Systems Optimization, Mechanical PE, vibration analysis, laser alignment, welding, fluid sealing, IFPS, AMPP, OSHA, and factory line certifications.

Pay

  • Pay range is $85,000–$100,000 per year.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday.

Workplace

  • The description specifies in-office work with time in the fabrication shop.
