Proposal Engineer

Role overview

Candidate criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of estimation principles and basic knowledge of NDT and SDT methodologies.
• Familiarity with construction fieldwork, concrete repair, structural rehabilitation and strengthening, waterproofing, protective coatings, or infrastructure maintenance is advantageous.
• Quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications are desirable; understanding durability, condition assessment, or structural inspection services is also desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Bills of Quantities and material, labor, and equipment quantity calculations.
• Prepare engineering project cost estimates and request and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals and maintain estimation databases and cost records.
• Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

Software and communication

• Use Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Use AutoCAD to read and perform basic editing of drawings.
• Use Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF software.
• Communicate in written and spoken English, coordinate with engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors, and prepare clear technical documentation.

• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with initiative, adaptability, and teamwork.
• Willing to learn durability, forensic engineering, and condition or structural assessment techniques.
• Comfortable working in the office and on project sites, at heights, and in construction or industrial environments.
• Able to travel to project locations when required and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
