Role overview

Glasgow Life seeks two Project Officers for its Events team to support the city’s host-city commitments to UEFA EURO 2028.

One post supports the Festival Event Manager and the other supports the Project Management and Governance Manager.

The role supports UEFA EURO 2028 delivery and Glasgow Life’s core event portfolio, including business-as-usual and Glasgow 2026 commitments.

Event planning and delivery

  • Support planning and delivery of assigned responsibilities across multiple operational areas for UEFA EURO 2028.
  • Assist with city-agency liaison, including licensing and multi-agency groups, and ensure paperwork is submitted, processed, and managed.
  • Input and manage key processes and documentation.
  • Place orders for temporary infrastructure and equipment and oversee delivery plans and logistics with event and operations colleagues.
  • Assist event leads with safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Work with project colleagues and Glasgow Life marketing, media, and finance teams on planning and delivery.

Project governance and evaluation

  • Develop project management plans and milestones with the Project Management and Governance Manager.
  • Implement and manage change control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate project reporting and support audits as required.
  • Facilitate event evaluation, reporting, and post-event knowledge sharing with colleagues and partners.
  • Undertake other duties as required.

Experience and knowledge

  • Experience in programme or project management in a complex, multi-partner environment; major events, sport, culture, public services, or visitor-economy programmes are ideal.
  • Appropriate qualification, training, or employment experience in event organisations.
  • Employment experience in operational and delivery aspects of cultural or sporting events.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the HSE’s The Event Safety Guide.
  • Experience working in public sector environments.

Skills and abilities

  • Good teamwork, enthusiasm, and problem-solving ability; strong people and communication skills for partnership with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand stakeholder expectations, deliver agreed service levels, and organise large volumes of information clearly and accurately.
  • Strong project management skills, including use of tools and software to track milestones, actions, risks, and workstream progress.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and experience writing operational plans.

Workplace

  • Hybrid working: part of the week at home and part of the week in an office.

Hours and contract

  • 35 hours per week, full-time.
  • Fixed-term contract until 30 September 2028.

Other role information

The posts are excepted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013, as amended.

For eligible internal employees, return to a substantive-grade role within the council family may be available at the end of the temporary period if agreed.
