The role
The technical project manager runs product-development projects day to day across mechanical, electrical, firmware, machine vision, and software teams.
Projects use a stage-gate process with shared plans, a RACI, and a risk register.
The role reports to the Chief Product Officer and leads cross-functional contributors through plans, weekly follow-through, and escalation without directly managing them.
Plan and schedule
- Baseline project plans with each lead and maintain integrated Jira schedules with visible critical paths.
- Run weekly core-team meetings, track actions to closure, identify schedule slips, develop recovery options, and escalate at-risk dates.
- Track project budgets and forecasts against plan.
Stage gates and control
- Prepare evidence packages for stage gates and recommend go or no-go decisions to leadership.
- Maintain risk registers, decision logs, and change logs, and run scope changes through change control.
- Keep requirements, specifications, and test results under document control.
Development and build coordination
- Follow up with external design contractors and suppliers on deliverables, checkpoints, and long-lead parts.
- Coordinate design reviews, prototype and validation builds, and test results across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams.
- Coordinate bills-of-materials releases and engineering changes with engineering, purchasing, and production.
- Coordinate customer pilots of new features and hardware revisions, including builds, shipment, commissioning, and schedule reporting.
- Coordinate product-certification plans for the markets served.
Release readiness
- Track readiness across production, service, support, sales, and marketing using dated checklists for training, spares, documentation, and release materials.
- Close projects with a review and lessons learned to inform future work.
Required qualifications
- At least 5 years managing projects in hardware product development or manufacturing, including an electromechanical product taken from prototype into production.
- Experience with stage-gate or new-product-introduction work covering prototype, validation, pilot build, and production release.
- Working knowledge of bills of materials, engineering change control, and document control.
- Experience managing contractors and suppliers to dates and deliverables, and on projects combining hardware, firmware, and software.
- Fluency in Jira boards, backlogs, epics, and dashboards, and in Excel-based schedules and tracking.
- Clear written and spoken communication, strong organization across workstreams, and calm follow-through.
Preferred qualifications
- An engineering degree or background in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or a similar discipline; PMP or equivalent, or working toward it.
- Product-certification experience, such as CSA/UL, FCC/ISED, or CE/UKCA; design for manufacture and assembly, production ramp-up, or customer pilot experience.
- ERP/MRP experience; Odoo is a strong asset. Experience with machine-vision or machine-learning products is preferred.
- Trading-card or collectibles retail familiarity is a bonus, not a requirement.
Why TCG Machines
- The role works directly with the CPO and leadership team on projects spanning design, build, test, and service.
- The company describes a path into product management as the product team grows for people who demonstrate capability.
Pay
- The description lists pay of $85,000 to $120,000, but the compensation cadence is truncated and not stated clearly.
