Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Project Information Manager as part of our digital information management team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Due to the nature of the projects and expectation, the position will be based full time in Wood office, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Role

Responsible for the overall project administration in areas of data and document control (home office and field).

Plans and controls the implementation of a project information management strategy that may extend to global execution.

Supervises a staff of Document Control, Data Management and System Administration personnel.

Oversees the implementation of applications that support the data, document and engineering activities on the project from planning to handover.

Assignments typically involve large complex projects that involve multi-office execution and workshare and will typically extend to other Wood business units as well as other contractors and subcontractors Levels I-III reflect increasing levels of experience and responsibility, see levelling guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Working with Project Management and Information Management functional leadership to evaluate standard work processes and projectized them to ensure that both the project’s and Wood information management objectives are met
  • Supervision of the Document Control, Data Control, Information Management & may also supervise Engineering System Administration teams on assigned project to ensure project objectives are met Facilitating collaboration between all project participants with respect to the project information (including PIM, Engineering, IT, client, vendors, and third parties)
  • Setting up, testing and implementing the Information Management applications/tools needed for Document Control and Data Management
  • Oversee training of project participants on the appropriate PIM applications/tools
  • Providing oversight of internal quality check process for Document Control
  • Providing oversight of internal quality check process for Data Control
  • Reporting on the state of information management project deliverables
  • Coordinating delivery and handover of project information to the client including documents, data, 2D and 3D models and databases.
  • Preparation of project documentation for progressive archiving throughout the project
  • Coordination of Information Management and Engineering System Administration
  • Creation and oversight of user system access procedures / tools / systems
  • Creation and oversight of relevant project procedures, ensuring rules are created, implemented and adhered to
  • Provide and Manage user (internal & External) access to project data repositories / systems (eg. Project drives, EDMS, Sharepoint, Eng Systems)
  • Work with IT to resolve project specific issues in relation to project information

Expected

Typically requires ISCED Level 6 (bachelor's or equivalent) or an equivalent level of expertise gained

through professional experience

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Typically requires a significant number of year's experience in a project engineering/technical environment in a relevant industry sector
  • Expertise in either Data Management or Document Control with a working knowledge of the other
  • Able to provide direction and oversight of Project Information Management activities and deliverables, including management of quality, completeness & timeliness of work by the team on the project.
  • Able to build consensus, help to move team forward. Able to lead by example and be an effective delegator
  • Must have the ability to translate client contractual requirements into Project Information Management project execution plans
  • Solid understanding of overall project workflow, project execution plan, procedures, and project primary deliverables and activities
  • Must have hands-on knowledge of the systems and tools used to support an electronic execution for both Data Management and Document Control
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve documentation and data issues in accordance with sound Project Information Management principles
  • Understands the principles of managing a project wide Information hub from planning and implementation through handover
  • Knowledge of ISO requirements for Document Control and understanding of ISO standard fordata integration, sharing, exchange, and hand-over between computer systems, and any other information standards relevant to the industry sector

Leads Document Control, Data Management and System Administration groups on the project.

Works as a part of the Project Management Team

External

May interact with client technical and information management teams

Level Of Influence & Decision-Making Authority

  • Develops and manages a project man-hour budget related to project information management staffing Receives general instructions on deadlines and priorities, but independently defines what is to be done and methodologies expected to perform day-to-day assignments. Responsible for the delegation of activities and supervision of project information staff dedicated to the project.
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and handle confidential or sensitive information.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with departmental co-workers and project personnel.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal: effective acting as Wood's discipline representative and liaison with other companies and individuals including client, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Willing and able to resolve team conflict
