Its technologies include Allen-Bradley PLCs, Ignition SCADA, and Delta DDC systems.

About the role

The Project Financial Analyst supports the financial health and profitability of construction projects for a subcontractor.

The position tracks costs, budgets, forecasts, and reporting to identify variances early and provide financial insight to project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial plans during bidding, pre-construction, and active execution.
  • Monitor expenditures against budgets, analyze weekly cost variances, explain them, and work with project teams on mitigation plans.
  • Prepare cost-to-complete forecasts, earned value analyses, profitability summaries, variance reports, cash flow projections, and other metrics.
  • Gather cost and progress data with project and field teams, understand cost drivers, validate completed work, and track finances accurately.
  • Review vendor and subcontractor invoices and outgoing billings for consistency with contract terms, change orders, retainage, and budgets.
  • Maintain cost databases, change-order logs, budget revisions, lien-waiver records, and financial models in audit-ready condition.
  • Identify and help implement improvements to job-costing, reporting, and financial workflows.
  • Assist with closeout reconciliations, profitability analysis, and lessons learned; perform other assigned finance-team duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, construction management, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency is required, including financial modeling, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, organization, time management, communication, and attention to detail are required.
  • Two or more years of project financial analysis, cost control, project accounting, or related analytical experience are required; construction or project-based experience is preferred.
  • Experience with multiple concurrent projects and producing accurate financial reports is expected.
  • Construction-specific software such as Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore, Foundation, or similar systems is highly desirable.
  • Construction practices such as job costing, change orders, progress billing, retainage, lien waivers, and certified payroll are strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to budget-versus-actual analysis, cost-to-complete forecasting, variance reporting, or earned value management is highly desirable.
