Role overview
Develop and deliver engineering solutions for live or in-service piping systems in oil and gas, petrochemical, pipeline, and industrial facilities.
Work includes hot tapping, online leak sealing, pipeline repair, and engineered repair clamp systems.
Design and engineering duties
- Design hot tapping and online leak sealing systems for in-service piping.
- Design split, structural, leak-sealing, and pressure-containing engineered repair clamps.
- Prepare general arrangement, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing drawings.
- Calculate pressure, pipe wall thickness, reinforcement, clamp and bolt loads, branch connections, and structural integrity.
- Review P&IDs, piping isometrics, specifications, and client requirements.
- Prepare material take-offs and bills of materials, datasheets, technical specifications, and design calculations.
- Coordinate with fabrication, procurement, QA/QC, and site teams; provide support during fabrication, installation, and site execution.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable ASME, API, ASTM, and client specifications.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of direct relevant experience in hot tapping, online leak sealing, pipeline repair, and clamp design.
- Strong knowledge of piping, pressure-containing systems, welding, bolting, gaskets, and sealing systems.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
Tools and standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; SolidWorks experience is an advantage.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3/B31.4/B31.8, ASME PCC-2, API 570, and API 1104 is preferred.
Preferred experience
- Direct experience with hot tapping, online leak sealing companies, or pipeline repair contractors is highly preferred.
