Main Purpose
Project Controls Coordinator is heavily involved with a primary function to monitor project cost and schedule performance.
Applications for payment are direct evidence of expenditure and progress.
Project Controls Coordinator is responsible for verifying that payment applications align with the contracted scope / deliverables
Often provide the data to support these applications, ensuring that costs are allocated correctly and that payments are justified based on deliverables
May not issue the payment (that's typically Finance/Accounts Payable), but they provide the crucial validation and reporting.
Technical and Professional Skills
- Five (5) years minimum experience of controlling experience, commercial and procurement preferably in professional services, engineering, or design industries.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) or industry-specific software.
- A dedicated Project Controls person should absolutely include the responsibility for applications for payment and the tracking/monitoring of bonds and insurances as they directly relate to cost, schedule, risk, and contractual compliance.
- For legal documentation, for Project Controls to have oversight or significant involvement in these areas, often in conjunction with Contracts, Legal, or Commercial departments. while Project Controls personnel are not usually lawyers or contract administrators themselves, but must have an understanding of the projects requirements from an administrative perspective.
