Position Overview
The Project Controller manages the financial aspects of utility-scale renewable energy projects during development, construction, and commissioning.
The role reports to the Director, Corporate Planning and Analysis and has no direct reports.
The stated work location is Toronto with a hybrid arrangement.
Project Cost Management and Reporting
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets and forecasts.
- Track expenditures, committed costs, and remaining budgets across multiple projects.
- Analyze variances and prepare corrective-action recommendations.
- Prepare monthly project financial reports and cost summaries.
Commitments and Financing
- Maintain commitment registers and track contract values against approved budgets.
- Reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and contract commitments.
- Prepare lender drawdown requests and coordinate with lenders, engineers, project managers, and accounting teams.
- Track financing availability, funding schedules, drawdown status, and lender compliance reporting.
Cash Flow Forecasting
- Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor projected funding needs and financing requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in project controls, project accounting, construction finance, or a related field.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system are required.
- Datarails or similar data-platform experience is an asset.
Compensation
- Base salary is listed as $90,000 CAD with a target annual bonus of 10%.
- Compensation varies depending on experience and qualifications.
