Role overview
The Taskforce Owner provides strategic leadership, sets direction for advisory work, and oversees alignment with conservation priorities.
The role is part-time and remote and focuses on species reintroductions in England.
Responsibilities
- Set priorities for evidence review and coordinate with the Chair and Secretariat.
- Approve guidance and recommendations related to species reintroductions.
- Engage government departments, scientific experts, and conservation partners in transparent and robust advisory processes.
- Review reports and proposals, contribute to policy discussions, and oversee governance and risk management.
- Support communications explaining the Taskforce’s role and decisions.
- Monitor Taskforce effectiveness and identify ways to strengthen its contribution to species recovery in England.
Qualifications
- Strong background in conservation, ecology, or environmental policy, with experience in species recovery or biodiversity programs.
- Leadership and governance experience, ideally in advisory groups, boards, or multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Strategic thinking and decision-making ability, including interpretation of complex scientific and technical information.
- Advanced communication and stakeholder-engagement skills, including representing the Taskforce in public or policy forums.
- Experience working with government bodies, NGOs, or research institutions on environmental or conservation issues.
- Ability to work independently remotely, manage a part-time workload, and meet agreed timelines.
- Relevant advanced degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Commitment to evidence-based decisions, transparency, and inclusive, non-discriminatory collaboration.
