An established MSP in Sheffield is seeking a senior engineer who can scope projects, build and deliver solutions, and mentor the team supporting them afterward.
The role combines pre-sales and solution design, full project delivery, and fourth-line escalation for the service desk.
The engineer will work directly with clients rather than operating only through a ticketing system.
What you will do
- Run discovery workshops and site audits, then create technical designs, proposals, and statements of work.
- Lead end-to-end Microsoft 365 projects involving Intune, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Lead Azure projects involving virtual machines, virtual networks, backup, Azure Site Recovery, and hybrid setups.
- Deliver projects involving firewalls, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and Defender.
- Handle on-premises and hybrid infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, VMware or Hyper-V, and storage.
- Act as the final technical escalation point for business-critical incidents and perform root cause analysis.
- Mentor first-, second-, and third-line engineers.
- Keep certifications current and help protect Microsoft Partner status.
- Work directly with clients to understand needs and design suitable solutions.
Required experience
- Substantial experience in an MSP or IT consultancy environment.
- Strong hands-on Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Azure experience, including hybrid cloud.
- Grounding in Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V or VMware, firewalls, and routing and switching.
- Ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders, sales teams, and clients.
- Interest in maintaining current professional certifications.
- Full UK driving licence for occasional client-site travel.
Preferred qualifications
- Azure Administrator Associate, Enterprise Administrator Expert, Security Administrator, or similar active certification is advantageous.
- Exposure to Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 is advantageous.
