The Production Supervisor oversees and coordinates workers involved in manufacturing, assembling, and packaging products.
The role reports to the Production Manager and covers team management, quality control, safety compliance, production planning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Supervision and production planning
- Lead, motivate, supervise, coach, and train production staff; encourage teamwork and strong performance.
- Develop schedules, allocate resources, monitor production, reduce bottlenecks and downtime, and coordinate with procurement, maintenance, and quality teams.
Quality, inventory, and safety
- Implement quality controls, conduct inspections and audits, address quality issues, and take corrective action.
- Monitor raw-material and finished-goods inventory; coordinate with procurement and logistics to support timely deliveries and control waste.
- Enforce safety procedures, conduct training, investigate accidents or incidents, and implement preventive measures.
Performance and improvement
- Track throughput, yield, and efficiency; report key performance indicators and recommendations to management.
- Use performance data and employee feedback to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Manage materials, equipment, staffing, and maintenance planning; troubleshoot production and supply issues.
- Communicate with employees and collaborate across departments to align production goals with business objectives.
