Position Summary

We’re building a secure, scalable web and mobile application for the United States Space Force (USSF), and content is central to its success. We’re seeking a Senior Content Strategist to lead the development and execution of content strategy across this platform. This role will shape how content is structured, governed, authored, and delivered to diverse user groups — from USSF personnel to broader Department of Defense audiences.

You’ll collaborate across teams—design, product, engineering, and communications—and guide a distributed group of content contributors to ensure that all content is effective, consistent, accessible, and aligned with mission needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Content Strategy: Develop and document the overarching content strategy for the USSF platform, including voice/tone, structure, and delivery standards.
  • Design Content Models: Work with developers and CMS admins to architect scalable, reusable content structures using Directus (headless CMS).
  • Governance & Standards: Establish editorial standards, style guides, and publishing workflows. Ensure consistency and compliance across distributed authors.
  • Contributor Enablement: Train, support, and onboard USSF personnel who contribute content. Create playbooks, templates, and onboarding materials to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Content Design & UX Writing: Collaborate with UX designers to write and review interface copy, microcopy, and task-based content for clarity, usability, and accessibility.
  • Audit & Optimize: Conduct content audits, user research, and stakeholder interviews to inform strategy. Use analytics to improve engagement and effectiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the voice of content in product planning, sprint cycles, and stakeholder reviews. Advocate for user-centered messaging and plain language principles.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in content strategy, UX writing, or content design for digital platforms
  • Strong background in working with CMS tools—preferably headless platforms like Directus, Contentful, or Strapi
  • Experience creating and maintaining editorial standards, content models, and governance frameworks
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity, tone, and accessibility
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional product teams in Agile environments
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards and user-centered content practices
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution
  • Experience working with public affairs and legal teams within the DoD
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD digital services or working within a regulated or secure environment
  • Understanding of structured content design and content API delivery
  • Familiarity with plain language, information architecture, and UX principles
  • Exposure to security clearance processes or prior work with classified content workflows
  • Experience working in or with the USSF
  • Salary Range: $100,000 - $247,000
  • Pay Range
  • The posted pay range reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position and is provided to give candidates a general understanding of the compensation opportunity. The actual salary offered will be determined based on the requirements of the position and a variety of job-related factors, which may include geographic location, applicable Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant experience, skills and competencies, education, certifications, and the scope and responsibilities of the role.
  • Because this position may be performed in multiple locations and may be subject to different contract requirements, the salary ultimately offered may vary based on the applicable location and contract. The posted range is not a guarantee of a specific starting salary or an indication that an offer will be made at any particular point within the range.
  • Total Rewards
  • In addition to competitive base pay, Clarity provides a Total Rewards package designed to attract and retain exceptional professionals committed to excellence. Our benefits reflect the value we place on skilled individuals who drive our impact in critical digital missions.
  • At Clarity, a career means joining a high-performing team advancing vital work in the digital landscape. We encourage you to consider the total value of joining us—competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and resources that support your growth and impact.
  • Our Total Rewards package includes performance-based bonuses, extensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, substantial paid time off and holidays, flexible work arrangements where possible, and a range of income protection benefits. We are committed to supporting your well-being, professional growth, and ability to contribute to essential digital missions.
  • We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
