About the role
Founding member of OpenTable's Agentic Engineering Platform team within Product Engineering.
Redesign product delivery so people and AI agents can collaborate in shared team spaces, automate work, and reduce delivery costs.
Build shared cloud agents and tools connecting company knowledge and engineering systems, with controls for testing, review, and rollout.
Work directly with product engineering teams to turn AI advances into effective ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Identify delivery bottlenecks, use data and observation to select valuable problems, define success, and lead solutions through adoption.
- Design, build, integrate, and operate cloud agents and developer tools connecting AI models with company knowledge, codebases, APIs, and engineering systems.
- Improve planning, implementation, testing, review, rollout, and production-feedback workflows; automate work to improve human-agent collaboration.
- Partner with product engineering teams to learn domains, pilot solutions, respond to feedback, and package tools and guidance for independent use.
- Make unattended agent work reliable with permissions, isolated execution, automated testing and review, failure recovery, and cost controls.
- Set risk-based rollout checks and record agent activity and outcomes so work is traceable from request through production.
- Experiment with new AI capabilities; measure delivery time, quality, review effort, and cost; share findings and replace approaches when evidence changes.
Minimum qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including independent delivery and operation of production systems used by others.
- Experience making technical decisions, debugging failures, and working across unfamiliar codebases, APIs, databases, and cloud services.
- Deep understanding of API design, service-oriented architecture, scalability, and security.
- Strong proficiency with current AI coding tools such as Claude, Codex, or Cursor, and judgment about context, model selection, and human review limits.
- Ability to reason from first principles, learn unfamiliar domains, and turn ambiguous problems into experiments and working solutions.
- Evidence of helping engineers adopt tools or ways of working through listening, collaboration, clear communication, and follow-through.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience building and deploying agents and shared engineering tools.
- Production experience with cloud infrastructure, service identity, permissions, isolated execution environments, and distributed systems.
- Experience with automated testing, agent behavior evaluations, tracing, and observability tools.
- Experience bringing prototypes into sustained multi-team use with improved delivery, reliability, or cost.
- Experience improving complex products, especially marketplaces, booking, payments, or other transaction-heavy domains.
Benefits and perks
- Work from almost anywhere for up to 20 days per year; paid parental leave, vacation, birthday time off, volunteer time, and a company-wide week off.
- Mental health support includes company-paid therapy and Headspace subscription; career development includes development dollars, leadership development, and on-demand learning.
- Travel discounts, employee resource groups, 20 days of paid time off, private health and dental insurance, and life and disability insurance.
- Role may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity grant.
Workplace and flexibility
- Hybrid workplace with an expectation of working in the office two days a week.
- Some communications outside conventional business hours may be needed to collaborate across time zones, respond to partners, or address urgent matters.
