Role

Reliability and change safety

• Establish patterns for correctness monitoring, escalation, incident response, and disaster recovery.
• Help product teams define alerts, service levels, and response playbooks so client feeds, surveillance windows, and expected alerts work correctly.
• Raise change safety through trustworthy tests, effective design reviews, incremental changes, and reliable deployments.

Architecture and security

• Set technical direction for coherent architecture, deliberate domain interfaces, client environment lifecycles, and software delivery to production.
• Guide engineering security architecture, including client isolation, security boundaries, privileged access, and accepted risks.
• Support workload identity, SCIM 2.0, and enterprise identity integration for client provisioning.
• Security owns policy, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification, risk registers, and compliance; this role owns engineering controls and technical evidence in partnership with Security.

Engineering leadership and cost

• Grow senior engineers' scope, improve design review and technical writing, and build capability that does not depend on routing work through the Principal Engineer.
• Work with product teams and FinOps engineering to improve cloud optimisation, capacity strategy, and client-level cost visibility.

Client assurance

• Make assurance on environment segregation, promotion controls, change management, data residency, and disaster recovery repeatable.
• Review deals for technical risk and represent the architecture to client CISOs and technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Be a hands-on technical leader who reviews architecture, reads and writes code, and participates in incidents.
• Set technical direction across a complex, multi-team surveillance SaaS platform.
• Work across cloud environments running on AWS and Azure.
• Develop engineering controls and technical evidence in partnership with the Security team, without owning its compliance programme.
• Grow senior engineers' scope and strengthen design review and technical writing.
• Work with product teams and FinOps engineering on cost optimisation, capacity strategy, and client-level cost visibility.
• Review deals for technical risk and represent the architecture to client CISOs and technical stakeholders.
