Principal Engineer - Electrical

Responsibilities

• Undertake technical and peer reviews, checks, and design contributions.
• Provide feedback to the Local Head of GCC on protocols and processes to support continuous improvement.
• Maintain communication with the WSP UK team about project progress and participate in project and team meetings.
• Share information across teams, identify and address or refer risks, and follow commercial and contracting processes.
• Manage delegated tasks to deadlines, flag resourcing concerns and additional fees, and complete timesheets accurately before weekly deadlines.

Mandatory qualifications and experience

• Proven building-services design experience, including experience in a similar role or a demonstrated strong track record.
• Electrical Engineering degree and membership of an accredited engineering body, such as MIET, CIBSE, INSRAE, or ASHRAE.
• UK project design experience; knowledge of data centres, power systems, redundancy design, system integration, Tier systems, and critical IT infrastructure.
• At least 12 years of relevant work experience; the posting also specifies a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant subject.
• Fluent English with strong technical terminology; good management and technical skills.

Design and software skills

• Develop feasibility studies and concepts through detailed design, specifications, and tender; develop renewable-energy and low-energy strategies.
• Technical software includes Dialux, Dialux EVO, Amtech, and Hevacomp; Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project are essential.

Desired skills

• Working knowledge of BS, HTM, NBC, NFPA, other local codes, and UK codes is advantageous.
