Role overview

Technical leadership and design

• Lead client design reviews, system architecture presentations, bid discussions, and technical conversations on power strategy, redundancy, risks, and trade-offs.
• Prepare Electrical Basis of Design, Design Basis Reports, system narratives, technical presentations, proposals, and RFP/TQR responses.
• Own MV/LV distribution, substation architecture, UPS, generators, busbar trunking, earthing, lightning protection, and rack-level power delivery.
• Develop power systems for 10–100 MW IT-load facilities and high-density AI environments, including 40–100+ kW racks, 48V DC readiness, and CDU interfaces.
• Define N, N+1, N+2, and 2N resilience strategies; develop system topology and sequence of operations from concept through IFC.
• Perform or direct load, cable, voltage-drop, and power-balance calculations; lead load-flow, short-circuit, protection, arc-flash, and harmonics studies.
• Validate HVAC and generator cooling interfaces, BMS/EPMS integration, controls, and emergency shutdown sequences.
• Develop and review SLDs, layouts, equipment schedules, specifications, BOQs, RFP packages, AutoCAD drawings, Revit models, and IFC documents.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design, utilities and approvals; support vendor selection, construction, inspections, commissioning, testing, and audits.
• Lead and mentor the regional electrical team, establish design guidelines, and drive quality, risk management, and technical issue resolution.

Required qualifications and experience

• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience, including at least 5 years in data centres or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience leading MV/LV design, including switchgear, distribution, UPS, generators, busbar trunking, earthing, and lightning protection.
• Hands-on high-density data centre power experience, including 40 kW+ racks, rack-level busway, 48V DC architecture, and liquid-cooling electrical interfaces.
• Expertise in UAE utility approval processes, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence electrical submissions, and PUE compliance pathways.
• Power system studies proficiency with ETAP or equivalent; experience with Uptime Tier III or IV and commissioning/audit frameworks.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit BIM delivery at LOD350; Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered or Professional Electrical Engineer registration, or equivalent; strong English communication and ability to mentor engineers.

Additional advantageous experience

• Uptime Institute ATD or ATS certification; BESS, grid-interactive UPS, or hybrid power strategies.
• Knowledge of 48V DC/OCP standards, SF6-free MV switchgear, KSA regulatory requirements, or the Saudi data centre market.
• Arabic language skills.
