Principal AI Engineer – AI Factory

Role overview

AI and platform engineering

• Define cross-system architecture for AI platforms and distributed backend systems.
• Design and optimize LLM inference and serving infrastructure, including options such as vLLM, TGI, or TensorRT-LLM.
• Build production RAG pipelines, retrieval, vector search, reranking, and AI agent architectures.
• Architect scalable backend services, APIs, event-driven systems, and microservices.
• Build and optimize PostgreSQL databases, Kubernetes deployments, and Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Establish AI evaluation, regression detection, observability, and monitoring.
• Improve performance, reliability, latency, throughput, and cost efficiency.

Technical leadership

• Lead design reviews, resolve complex engineering challenges, and establish engineering standards.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers while contributing directly to code, prototypes, experiments, and production deployments.
• Evaluate models, frameworks, and infrastructure technologies to guide build-versus-buy decisions.

Required qualifications

• Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or equivalent senior technical leadership experience.
• Strong hands-on Python production engineering expertise and working proficiency in at least one of Go, Rust, Java, or Kotlin.
• Production AI engineering experience with LLMs, RAG, retrieval, or AI agents.
• Knowledge of inference, model serving, embeddings, vector databases, AI observability, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, APIs, and microservices.
• Production PostgreSQL experience at scale, including performance and reliability.
• Experience with Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform or equivalent infrastructure automation.
• Knowledge of reliability, scalability, consistency, idempotency, retries, back-pressure, and service-level objectives.
• Ability to make complex architectural decisions and influence engineering teams; experience with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents.

Preferred qualifications

• End-to-end RAG experience, including ingestion, vector search, reranking, and grounding evaluation.
• Familiarity with LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, Microsoft Agent Framework, or OpenAI Agent SDK.
• Experience with pgvector, Qdrant, Redis, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or Azure Event Hubs.
• Experience with vLLM, Text Generation Inference, TensorRT-LLM, Langfuse, Grafana, Prometheus, or comparable tools.
• Arabic-language, voice, or conversational AI; regulated-industry or mission-critical delivery; secure, scalable, sovereign AI infrastructure.

Pay

• Pay starts at AED 15,000 per month.
