About the role

Senior, high-visibility analyst role with ownership of portfolio performance across construction insurance.

Reports to the Head of Underwriting or Chief Underwriting Officer.

Acts as analytical authority for rate monitoring, claims trends, and risk selection across contractors, developers, and commercial construction programs.

The posting describes a technology-enabled insurance MGA using risk analytics, spatial data, and portfolio monitoring.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead performance monitoring across construction, engineering, and contractor lines, tracking loss ratios, rate changes, frequency, severity, and profitability.
  • Maintain, refine, and stress-test underwriting and rating models to improve rate adequacy and risk selection.
  • Analyze claims and exposure data for trends, supply chain pressures, inflation impacts, and anomalies.
  • Recommend pricing changes, risk appetite adjustments, and capacity allocation to executive leaders.
  • Work with data engineers, product owners, and brokers to embed risk intelligence in underwriting workflows.

Skills and competencies

  • Advanced portfolio analytics, financial modeling, and risk evaluation; mastery of core insurance performance metrics.
  • Strong technical understanding of construction insurance, contractor risks, delegated authority programs, or broader commercial lines.
  • Hands-on experience with, or ability to leverage, Power BI, SQL, Python, or spatial risk tools for automated, real-time insights.
  • Proactive, inquisitive approach to complex commercial analysis.
  • Exceptional communication skills for presenting analytical narratives to non-technical leaders and capacity partners.

Qualifications and experience

  • Strong experience in portfolio underwriting analytics, pricing, or actuarial analysis within an MGA, specialty carrier, or Lloyd's environment.
  • Direct experience with construction, engineering, or contractor risk portfolios is highly advantageous.
  • Track record of influencing underwriting strategy and capacity partner decisions through data-led recommendations.

Work arrangement

  • The posting describes the location as London with a remote or hybrid arrangement.

Compensation

  • The headline advertises £60K plus bonus but does not specify a salary payment cadence.
