Role Description
The Plastic Injection Molding Technical Director is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This role oversees all technical aspects of plastic injection molding operations, including process development, optimization, and troubleshooting for existing and new molds.
The Technical Director leads cross-functional teams of engineers, technicians, and toolmakers to ensure stable, efficient, and repeatable production, while meeting quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Daily responsibilities include reviewing mold designs, validating tooling, defining molding parameters, running the first shots and implementing best practices in process control and preventive maintenance.
The role also drives continuous improvement initiatives, collaborates with R&D on new product introductions, evaluates and implements new technologies, and partners with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support long-term manufacturing strategies.
Qualifications
- Strong team leadership and team management skills, with experience building and mentoring high-performing technical and production teams.
- Proven background in research and development (R&D) for plastic injection molding, including process innovation, material evaluation, and design-for-manufacturability.
- Experience with software development or software-driven manufacturing systems (e.g., CAD/CAM, simulation tools, MES, or automation control software) to support digital manufacturing and data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, prioritizing, and delivering multiple tooling and production projects on time and within budget.
- Extensive hands-on experience in plastic injection molding, mold design and validation, machine runs and troubleshooting complex molding issues.
- Solid understanding of CNC machining, toolmaking, and related manufacturing processes supporting injection molding.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts, digital twin, IoT, and data analytics in a manufacturing environment is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and standards
