Job Purpose
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely completion of construction projects.
The role involves coordinating with project teams, tracking progress, analyzing delays, and preparing reports to support effective project control and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Develop baseline programs, resource-loaded schedules, and cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor project progress and update schedules on a regular basis.
- Identify critical activities and monitor critical path performance.
- Analyze project delays and prepare extension of time (EOT) and delay analysis reports when required.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to collect progress data.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations.
- Track procurement, material delivery, and subcontractor activities against the project schedule.
- Evaluate schedule impacts resulting from variations, design changes, and unforeseen conditions.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide planning recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with contractual planning and reporting requirements.
- Support tender planning activities by preparing tender programs, manpower histograms, and methodology schedules.
