Role Overview

Intern-to-hire PL/SQL and Java Developer role in the Technology / Product Engineering department.

The role supports enterprise applications and database-driven solutions in the banking and financial domain.

The internship lasts six months and may convert to a full-time Developer role based on performance.

Workplace and Reporting

  • The role is based in Bangalore and is explicitly on-site.
  • The position reports to a Senior Backend Developer or Technical Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, and functions.
  • Collaborate with senior developers to build and test Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs.
  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and technical documentation.
  • Optimize SQL queries and perform database performance tuning.
  • Support integrations between backend services and front-end or third-party systems.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and sprint reviews and contribute process improvement ideas.
  • Apply secure coding, Git version control, and unit testing best practices.

Required Technical Skills

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, including queries, procedures, triggers, and functions.
  • Good understanding of Java, preferably Java 11 or later, Spring Boot, and JPA/Hibernate.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and XML data formats.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle and Agile methodologies.
  • Exposure to Postman, Git/GitHub, and basic unit testing frameworks such as JUnit or Mockito.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Academic or project experience in Java and SQL/PLSQL is highly desirable.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Exposure to banking or financial systems or ERP projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with microservices, Docker, or cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for learning DevOps and CI/CD tools is preferred.
  • The role requires eagerness to learn, problem-solving ability, communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and commitment to clean maintainable code.
