Physical Education Adjunct Instructor

One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, Jefferson serves students pursuing credit courses in liberal arts, business, math, science, allied health, and technology for transfer or career purposes. We also offer a multitude of workshops for professional training, personal development, and youth.

The Education and Public Service Department at Jefferson Community College is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to grow our adjunct pool.

Duties may include teaching physical activity courses, such as ice hockey, ice skating, yoga, outdoor recreation, etc. Physical Education instructors may use community connections and previous work experiences to create engaging and dynamic applied learning experiences. Must be able to teach physical education courses in a college setting; develop course syllabus, teaching materials, activities, and handouts for each section/course taught; prepare and deliver lectures; maintain accurate student records. Courses may be delivered in online or hybrid formats and successful applicants must be able to navigate the online learning management system.

This is a pooled search. Jefferson Community College is seeking to develop a pool of qualified applicants. Applications will be accepted for the duration of the posting and will remain on file for up to three years. Qualified applicants may be considered for part-time teaching vacancies as they occur.

The College determines the need for adjunct instructors based on course offerings each term, and it is not possible to predict staffing needs for future semesters. When an opening does occur, selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Level A - $665/credit hour Level B - $785/credit hour after teaching 6 semesters at Jefferson.
