Pension Analyst - Terminations

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Calculate and process termination packages and pension payouts, coordinating with Sun Life on defined contribution values when needed.
• Calculate eligible death benefits and prepare and distribute pension adjustment reports within stated timelines.
• Review rehire reports, correct pension system records as needed, and route Caribbean Plan enrollment reports when applicable.
• Provide second signoff on termination payouts and verify payment authorizations against system records and election forms.
• Track deferred pension elections and payouts, send follow-up letters, and maintain current department procedures quarterly.
• Back up other departmental processes and assist with assigned projects.

Required qualifications

• Well organized and able to prioritize work effectively.
• Good oral and written communication and computer skills.
• Strong decision-making and ability to complete tasks with minimal instruction.
• Good understanding of the Pension Standards Act, the Income Tax Act, and provincial pension legislation.
• Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Assets

• SAP knowledge.
• Business knowledge and functional expertise.
• Pension Plan Administration Certificate or enrollment in CEBS or PPAC.
• Understanding of actuarial concepts, RBC net and HR Self-Serve tools, or the RBC Pension Program.

Schedule and employment

• The posting states 37.5 work hours per week and full-time, regular employment.
