The Operations Team Leader oversees technical operations in employee benefits and property and casualty departments.
Scope includes placement, policy servicing, daily team operations, and Medical Insurance workflow oversight.
The role calls for an underwriting background and technical knowledge across Marine, Engineering, Motor, Property, and Liability insurance.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate daily workloads, priorities, and service delivery across employee benefits and property and casualty.
- Review client insurance requirements, identify coverage gaps, and coordinate suitable options with insurers.
- Review risk details, quotations, policy wording, exclusions, deductibles, and endorsements for gaps or discrepancies.
- Supervise submissions, quotation comparisons, insurer negotiations, and placement against client requirements.
- Oversee renewals, policy issuance, endorsements, and servicing for accuracy, completeness, and timely turnaround.
- Coordinate Medical Insurance workflows and support escalated service matters.
- Resolve technical and operational queries with clients, insurers, and internal teams.
- Guide and mentor team members, review work quality, and maintain technical and service standards.
- Monitor outstanding cases and performance, report recurring issues, and recommend workflow improvements.
- Maintain accurate records and follow applicable requirements, internal procedures, and service standards.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant insurance experience with a strong underwriting background.
- Practical exposure to technical insurance operations, placement, or policy servicing.
- Strong technical knowledge of Marine, Engineering, Motor, Property, and Liability insurance, including coverage analysis and policy wording interpretation.
- Insurance brokerage experience is an advantage.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred; experienced technical professionals able to guide colleagues and coordinate workloads may also be considered.
- Familiarity with employee benefits and Medical Insurance operations is desirable.
