Overview
The Paint Shop In-Charge is responsible for supervising all paint shop activities, ensuring quality paint finishing, managing painters and helpers, meeting delivery timelines, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring efficient utilization of materials and manpower.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily paint shop operations and allocate jobs to painters and helpers.
- Ensure all vehicles are prepared, painted, polished, and completed according to company quality standards.
- Monitor work progress and ensure customer vehicles are delivered within committed timelines.
- Inspect paint jobs before delivery to ensure proper color matching, finishing, and quality control.
- Coordinate with body shop, detailing, and workshop teams for smooth workflow.
- Ensure proper utilization of technicians and avoid delays caused by poor planning or supervision.
- Monitor paint materials, consumables, and inventory usage to minimize wastage.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping of the paint booth and work area.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
- Report delays, damages, rework, or operational issues to management immediately.
- Train and guide painters and junior staff on proper painting techniques and company procedures.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, and productivity of paint shop staff.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and functioning.
& Requirements
- Experience in automotive paint shop operations and supervision.
- Good knowledge of paint preparation, mixing, spraying, polishing, and finishing.
- Ability to manage technicians and handle workflow efficiently.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and paint booth operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or technical certification in automotive painting or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in automotive paint shop supervision.
