Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Painter and Decorator role based at Sopwell House in the London area.
The Painter and Decorator will prepare and finish interior and exterior surfaces across guest rooms, suites, public areas, spa, restaurants, and event spaces to maintain a high standard of presentation.
Responsibilities include surface preparation (filling, sanding, priming), applying paints, stains, and coatings, and carrying out touch-ups, repairs, and scheduled redecoration as needed.
The role will involve selecting appropriate materials, mixing paints, and matching colors to existing finishes, while ensuring work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
The Painter and Decorator will work closely with the maintenance and housekeeping teams, respond to maintenance requests, and support refurbishments and minor project works, often outside of peak guest times to minimize disruption.
Qualifications
- Strong practical skills in Paint, Painting, and Painting and Decorating, with the ability to deliver high-quality finishes on a variety of surfaces.
- Knowledge of Coatings, including appropriate selection and application for interior and exterior environments.
- Experience with Spray Painting techniques and equipment, including setup, operation, and maintenance, is highly beneficial.
- Previous experience as a Painter and Decorator in hospitality, residential, or commercial settings, ideally in a hotel or similar high-end environment.
- Ability to interpret job specifications, follow health and safety procedures, and use tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail, good color awareness, and a methodical approach to planning and completing tasks.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team while working around guests and events discreetly.
- Relevant trade qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in painting and decorating; willingness to undertake further training as required.
