Job Summary
We are a busy carpentry company with a steady flow of inbound inquiries (calls, website forms, referrals). We need a confident, detail-oriented Outdoor Sales Representative to visit leads at their homes or job sites, understand their carpentry needs, take measurements, provide quotes, and close the deal on the spot or within 24 hours.
Key responsibilities
- Visit inbound leads: Receive daily assignments of pre-qualified leads; schedule and conduct on-site visits (residential or commercial).
- Needs assessment: Listen to client requirements (custom cabinets, decking, framing, furniture, etc.) and advise on feasible carpentry solutions.
- On-site measurement: Take accurate measurements, note site conditions, and identify potential challenges (access, uneven floors, existing structures).
- Quote & proposal: Prepare clear, itemized quotes using company pricing tools; explain scope, materials, timeline, and payment terms.
- Close the deal: Use proven closing techniques to secure signed contracts and collect the initial deposit or down payment.
- Follow-up: For leads not closed immediately, send a follow-up quote within 24 hours and maintain gentle persistence until a decision is made.
Feedback loop: Report common objections, competitor mentions, or site issues to management to improve inbound conversion.
Requirements & qualifications
- Proven closing ability: 1+ year of field sales experience visiting customer homes or sites and closing deals (carpentry, renovation, flooring, or similar home services).
- Carpentry knowledge: Must know basic wood types, joinery, and finishing; ability to measure accurately with tape or laser measure. Reading simple drawings or sketches is a plus.
- Customer-facing skills: Friendly, trustworthy, and professional. Able to explain technical terms to homeowners without jargon.
- Transport & tools: Own vehicle and valid driver's license. Basic toolkit (tape measure, notepad, tablet or laptop for quotes).
Language: Fluent in local language(s).
Preferred (not mandatory)
- Basic sketching ability for simple elevation views.
- Portfolio of past closed deals or references.
Experience with carpentry or renovation quoting software.
