Role Overview

Samuel, Son & Co. is seeking an Operator I to join its metals manufacturing team.

The Saw Operator operates various saws and cuts metal to meet customer quality and delivery requirements.

Shift

  • Second shift runs from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Compensation

  • The stated pay scale is $21.65 to $24.05, with the base rate determined by factors including location, skills, education, experience, and internal equity.

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders for customer size, thickness, quality, and packaging requirements.
  • Use inventory material effectively and return unused material to the correct location.
  • Calculate plate utilization to minimize waste.
  • Perform quality and measurement checks.
  • Perform daily operator maintenance to support uptime.
  • Use RF scanning and the AS400 system to locate material.
  • Pick, process, and pack orders using computer programs.
  • Follow safety policies, wear PPE, and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

  • Machine operation and setup experience is required.
  • Prior metal cutting and overhead crane experience are advantageous.
  • Experience operating a forklift or side loader is required.
  • Perform decimal calculations for plate optimization.
  • Read tape measures to 1/32 inch and calipers to the ten-thousandth of an inch.
  • Stand for long periods and bend, stoop, push, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb in and out of side loaders and forklifts.
