Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end ocean freight shipments (FCL and LCL), import and export, from enquiry and booking through to delivery and file closure.
• Handle multiple live shipments and client accounts concurrently, tracking cut-offs, sailing schedules, and documentation deadlines across all active files.
• Book space with carriers, co-loaders, and NVOCCs; negotiate and confirm rates, and manage rollovers or schedule changes proactively.
• Prepare and verify shipping documentation – Bills of Lading (original, telex/express, Seaway), manifests, certificates of origin, and shipping instructions.
• Coordinate customs clearance and inland transport, liaising with clearing agents, transporters, and port/terminal systems (Jebel Ali / DP World portals).
• Serve as the primary operational point of contact for assigned clients, providing timely status updates and resolving issues before they escalate.
• Monitor and update internal tracking sheets and shipment status reports accurately and in real time.
• Coordinate with the commercial team on quotations and with finance on invoicing, job costing, and supplier billing.
• Anticipate and resolve operational exceptions – missed cut-offs, documentation discrepancies, demurrage/detention risks – with sound prioritization under pressure.

Desired candidate profile

• 4–5 years of hands-on freight forwarding experience in the UAE, with a clear focus on the ocean freight division.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple shipments and clients simultaneously under deadline pressure.
• Strong working knowledge of the end-to-end sea freight process, FCL/LCL operations, and Bill of Lading types and release mechanisms.
• Familiarity with UAE customs procedures and Jebel Ali / DP World terminal and portal processes.
• Proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel) and freight/operations software.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills in English; ability to keep clients and partners informed clearly and promptly.
• Bachelor's degree or relevant logistics qualification preferred.
