Operations Research Analyst

Position summary

Decision support and acquisition analysis

• Support or lead Business Case Analysis and Economic Analysis studies and lead stakeholder engagement and study scoping.
• Develop and apply mathematical and logical methods to estimate program benefits, costs, and risks.
• Develop, update, manipulate, and maintain cost and affordability models.
• Evaluate program investment and acquisition strategies and courses of action, and plan acquisition of capabilities.

Data analysis and forecasting

• Collect, process, normalize, and analyze complex DoD customer datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
• Apply statistical methods, modeling techniques, and optimization algorithms.
• Develop forecasts using historical data and current inputs to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Create tailored analytics and reporting solutions and use data visualization to communicate findings.

Client and defense domain

• Work with clients to understand operational needs and requirements and support decision-making.
• Maintain awareness of DoD operations, policies, procedures, and developments so analyses align with current defense priorities.
• Support on-site delivery in the Quantico and Stafford areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and forecasting focused on defense-related datasets.
• Experience supporting Business Case Analysis, Analysis of Alternatives, Economic Analysis, or other analytical studies.
• Defense-sector experience, particularly with DoD Acquisition programs, and knowledge of DoD operations, policies, and procedures.
• Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, or similar languages; experience with data visualization.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, including explaining complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Salary

• The listed salary range is USD 150,000–200,000 per year.
