Operations and Business Development Manager - Optical Retail

Role overview

Operations and commercial responsibilities

• Oversee branch operations, standards, P&L, budgets, targets, sales KPIs and SOPs; support openings, relocations and refurbishments.
• Grow clinic and doctor referrals through weekly visits; coordinate promotions, seasonal campaigns and loyalty programmes.
• Negotiate supplier agreements, set pricing and discounts, enforce cash controls, prevent stock loss and report sales, margins, stock and KPIs monthly.

Inventory, people and customer responsibilities

• Plan purchasing and branch stock, manage counts and slow-moving stock, set visual merchandising standards and monitor lens-lab turnaround.
• Recruit, train and coach staff; set targets, conduct reviews, manage commissions, rosters and branch coverage.
• Maintain customer service, resolve escalations, oversee CRM, recall and follow-up programmes, and support online channels.
• Renew licences, permits, leases and staff documents; protect customer data and prescription records.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of UAE optical retail experience, including at least 2 years managing one or more branches.
• Proven success building referral or corporate relationships; fluent English and Arabic.
• Comfort with sales data, Excel and sales apps, and ability to write a short weekly report.
• Valid UAE driving licence and own car.
• Dispensing optician qualification or DHA licence is a plus.
