Operational Risk Framework Manager

Role context

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, maintenance, and development of group-wide operational risk standards, methodologies, and guidance, including RCSAs, control management, issue management, and risk-event management.
• Align the framework with group risk policies, taxonomy, risk appetite, and the overarching Group Risk Management Framework.
• Own framework training and coordinate communications on operational risk standards, processes, guidance, and changes.
• Develop operational risk elements of the Group Risk Taxonomy and Risk Appetite Framework with the Enterprise Risk Framework Manager.
• Monitor regulatory, industry, and peer developments and implement proportionate changes.
• Translate approved methodologies into business and system requirements and support their implementation with the GRC Platform Integration & Support lead.
• Present framework topics at committees and forums; provide expertise and constructive challenge across the first and other lines.
• Lead and coach a specialist team, align people and processes with future function needs, and support compliance with people policies and the Group Code of Conduct.

Success criteria and knowledge

• Proven track record developing operational risk management frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management, relationship-building, analytical, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
• Confidence delivering presentations.
• Strong understanding of PRA/FCA regulatory expectations for operational risk in financial services.
• Strong understanding of best practice and industry standards for operational risk management frameworks.
• Broad understanding of M&G’s risk landscape.
• Knowledge of insurance and asset management businesses is beneficial.
