Banking Operational Excellence and Transformation Manager (6 -12 months contract)

Role Purpose

The Operations Transformation / Process Re-engineering Manager will drive end‑to‑end transformation initiatives across banking operations by leading process mapping, process re‑engineering, and data‑driven improvement programs. The role focuses on improving operational efficiency, Straight Through Processing (STP), Turnaround Time (TAT), and Customer Experience (CX) while ensuring strong project governance and stakeholder engagement across operations leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Process Transformation & Excellence

• Lead process mapping and documentation of end‑to‑end banking operations using standard process excellence methodologies.
• Identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and bottlenecks; design and implement process re‑engineering solutions to improve productivity, quality, and scalability.
• Drive operations and process excellence initiatives to enhance STP, reduce TAT, and improve overall CX.
• Support standardization and simplification of processes across units where applicable.

Data Analysis & Insights

• Perform detailed data analysis using Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, dashboards) to derive insights from operational performance data.
• Track key operational metrics and KPIs to measure improvement impact and identify further optimization opportunities.
• Present insights and recommendations in a clear, structured manner to senior stakeholders.

Project Management

• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of transformation projects , including scope definition, planning, execution, tracking, and closure.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives.
• Prepare structured project updates, executive summaries, and governance materials.

Lean / Six Sigma & Continuous Improvement

• Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles (where applicable) to drive waste elimination, defect reduction, and sustainable process improvements.
• Support continuous improvement culture through structured problem‑solving and root cause analysis. (Certification is a plus but not mandatory.)

Stakeholder & Governance Management

• Run and facilitate working group meetings involving cross‑functional teams from operations, technology, risk, and business.
• Manage stakeholders up to Unit Heads of Operations , ensuring alignment, buy‑in, and timely decision‑making.
• Act as a trusted partner to operations leadership on transformation priorities.

Key Deliverables

• Business cases and improvement proposals
• Project plans, RAID logs, and status reporting
• Operational dashboards and performance insights
• Measurable improvements in STP, TAT, cost, quality, and CX

Required Skills & Experience

Must Have

• Strong experience in banking operations process mapping and re‑engineering
• Proven project management experience in operations or transformation initiatives
• Advanced Excel-based data analysis and insight generation
• Hands‑on experience leading working groups and cross‑functional teams
• Strong communication and presentation skills

Good to Have

• Practical exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement frameworks
• Experience in projects focused on STP, TAT reduction, and CX improvement
• Stakeholder management experience up to Unit Head / Senior Operations Leadership level
• Exposure to retail banking, wholesale banking, or shared services operations
