Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Oil Trader role based in Dubai.
The Oil Trader will manage physical and, where applicable, paper oil trading activities, including sourcing supply, negotiating contracts, and executing trades with international counterparties.
Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring global oil markets, analyzing price movements and spreads, and identifying profitable trading opportunities in crude and refined products.
The role involves managing positions and exposure, optimizing logistics and storage, coordinating with operations, shipping, and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely execution and settlement.
The Oil Trader will maintain and develop relationships with suppliers, buyers, brokers, and other partners, while ensuring compliance with internal risk policies, legal requirements, and international trade regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of oil markets, including crude and refined products, pricing benchmarks, spreads, and global supply–demand dynamics.
- Proven experience in physical oil trading, commodities trading, or a closely related energy trading role, ideally within an international environment.
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret market data, financial metrics, and risk indicators to support trading decisions.
- Solid knowledge of trading contracts, incoterms, hedging instruments, and risk management principles (e.g., futures, swaps, options is an advantage).
- Experience working with operations, logistics, and shipping teams to coordinate vessel schedules, storage, and documentation for smooth trade execution.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills to build and maintain long-term partnerships with buyers, suppliers, and brokers.
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to make time-sensitive decisions under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Proficiency with trading systems, market data platforms, and standard office software; familiarity with risk and position management tools is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or professional certifications in commodities/energy are a plus.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages relevant to key trading regions (e.g., Arabic, Russian, Mandarin) are an advantage.
