About This Role

Overview

The EHS officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with Environment, Health and Safety regulations and promoting a safe place to work.

Responsibilities

  • will include executing, maintaining and reviewing Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) practices and procedures in coordination with stakeholders and regulatory authorities to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for Abu Dhabi Airports employees and contractors.
  • The EHS officer will provide oversight activities of the implementation and maintenance of safe work procedures for Abu Dhabi airports premises.
  • Adhere and comply with OSHAD, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 and maintain organization documents according to regulatory bodies. Stay abreast of changes in environmental and safety legislation and implement necessary updates to company policies.
  • Conduct workplace inspections / system audits and prepare reports outlining potential hazards and areas of improvement. This includes undertaking risk assessments and preparation of safe work method statements.
  • Maintain a central register of reported incidents, injuries, and hazard statistics. Submit regular reports on EHS activities to management and governing bodies as required.
  • Provide training and awareness, identify and co-ordinate the delivery of appropriate EHS programs that meet organizational needs.
  • Promote a safety culture through regular communication and EHS workshops.
  • Actively participate in / attend and provide information and guidance to EHS Committees on incident/accident investigation, determine root causes and implement corrective action. Prepare and submit incident reports to management and relevant authorities.
  • Conduct routine site inspections and safety audits, ensuring proper documentation of the findings. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to review and improve safety practices.
  • Assist managers, senior officers and staff in improving health and safety or dealing with specific issues as they may arise
  • Ensure that hazardous substances are correctly identified at each worksite and maintain up to date hazardous substance register and material safety data sheets in coordination with Department Managers.
  • Monitoring and measurement of work environment and Permit to Work.
  • As required to support Manager EHS; Department of Municipalities and Transport, OSHAD, FANR, GCAA, Environmental Agency (EAD), Third Party Certification Bodies.
  • Top competencies required
  • Ability to ensure compliance and maintain organizational documentation.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and hazard identification.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and sustainability practices.
  • Ability to lead incident investigations and audits.
  • Ability to implement safety training programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with all stakeholders.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written Arabic and English.
