OB Surgical Tech - Nights
Role Overview
The OB Technician assists in obstetric and surgical procedures, acting as a scrub person and handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries.
This role plays a key part in ensuring a sterile environment, preparing for procedures, and supporting obstetric teams in providing safe and high-quality patient care.
The OB Technician collaborates with nurses, physicians, and surgical staff, assisting in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative tasks.

Qualifications
- Technical School completion of a Surgical Technician or OB Technician training program required
- 0-1 years of experience as an OB Technician, Surgical Technician, or in a related healthcare role required
- 1-2 years of experience in labor and delivery, obstetric surgery, or women’s health services preferred
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in obstetric and surgical procedures, including sterile technique, instrument handling, and patient positioning.
- Strong knowledge of infection control, sterilization, and disinfection processes for obstetric and surgical equipment.
- Ability to anticipate surgical team needs, ensuring smooth and efficient procedural flow.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and surgical staff.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols, including proper specimen handling, equipment operation, and surgical counts.
- Knowledge of AORN and hospital policies related to obstetric and surgical procedures.
- Licenses and Certifications
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- CST - Certified Surgical Technologist preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in labor and delivery, obstetric surgery, or women’s health services preferred
- CST - Certified Surgical Technologist preferred
