About this role
- Managing the technical and operational aspects of plant production.
- Plan and supervise plant propagation (seeds, cuttings, grafting, tissue culture)
- Ensure proper growth conditions for plants in nurseries
- Monitor plant health, growth rate and quality
- Manage greenhouse or shade structure production system
- Prepare and manage soil mixes, compost and substrates
- Ensure proper fertilizer application
- Monitor plants for pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies
- Apply integrated pest management (IPM) methods
- Coordinate safe pesticide or biological control applications
- Maintain greenhouse structures, shade nets, irrigation pumps, and misting system
- Ensure proper ventilation, temperature, and humidity control
- Supervise maintenance of nursery tools and machinery
- Ensure plants meet size, health, and quality standards before sale or planting
- Maintain unform growth and appearance
- Inspect plants before delivery to landscaping or agricultural projects
- Maintain records:
- ✓Plant varieties and quantities
- ✓Fertilizer and pesticide usage
- ✓Growth cycles and production schedules
- ✓Asset register
- Prepare technical reports and nursery production plan
- Supervise nursery workers and technicians
- Provide training on plants care, irrigation and safety procedures
- Manage daily work schedules and tasks
- Manage waste and recycling of nursery materials, use eco-friendly fertilizers and pest control methods & implement water conservation system.
- Maintain healthy & safe environment at the workplace.
- Follow the rules and regulations according to the company policy.
- Occupational and workplace Health and Safety responsibilities:
- In addition to all job-specific responsibilities, all employees are required to adhere to all Basatin health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, practices, and relevant legal and statutory health, safety and environmental requirements and obligations.
- All employees are personally responsible to familiarize themselves with these policies, procedures, practices, updates, etc.
- Khidmah HSE department regularly updates existing and introduce new policies, procedures, and practices and each employee is personally responsible to ensure they stay updated and compliant with all such updates and new additions.
- Information Security responsibilities:
- Comply with Basatin Information Security Policies
- Be aware of and fulfil their information security responsibilities
- Ensure whoever handles sensitive company information have taken the Security Awareness Training
- Know how to report a security incident (to IT ServiceDesk or InfoSec).
- Not Disable his/her OS firewall and/or Antivirus
- Restrict use to authorized purposes, Protect access accounts, privileges and associated passwords.
- Accept accountability of his/her individual user accounts, and maintain confidentiality
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture / Agricultural Engineering/ Agriculture/ Plant Science / nursery experience essential
- Min 4 years’ experience in relevant field.
- Strong presentation, co-ordination, and communication
