About the Role:
Nauru Medical Centre is seeking an experienced and dynamic Unit Manager – Labour & Delivery (LDR) to lead the maternity unit and drive the transformation of services to international standards. This role is pivotal in ensuring safe, high-quality, and patient-centred maternity care while strengthening clinical governance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for the Labour & Delivery unit
- Drive the implementation of evidence-based maternity care practices aligned with international standards
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes
- Develop, standardize, and monitor clinical protocols and care pathways
- Build and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary team
- Establish and maintain robust clinical governance and risk management systems
- Oversee staffing, resource planning, and day-to-day unit operations
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and patient-centred care
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse / Midwife with a valid professional license
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in maternity services, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong background in Labour & Delivery (LDR) and maternity care
- International healthcare experience is highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in implementing quality and patient safety initiatives
- Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
- Ability to work in a remote and resource-limited setting
