- As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for patients and ensure the safety and health of the patient.
- In this role, you will provide safe and efficient practices for decontamination, instrument inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
- You will be responsible for case cart management and ensuring compliance with departmental standards.
- Here, you will receive ample support, training and education, including knowledge of operating the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and sterilization tools and concepts
- A caregiver in this position works evenings from 2:30PM – 11:00PM.
- A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
- Provide case cart management.
- Perform case pull functions efficiently and accurately.
- Demonstrate proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Adhere to preventative maintenance schedules and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards during the decontamination process.
- Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure.
- Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, assembly and high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentation in accordance with AAMI ST79 standards.
- Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.
- Perform recordkeeping functions within the electronic tracking system, including processing, sterilization and quality assurance documentation.
- Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations.
- Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) is required within 18 months after hire, unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership
- Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads and other tasks
Preferred qualifications
- for the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of healthcare experience or a similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly
- Pre-admission testing experience
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar will be considered
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.
- Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.
- Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
Personal Protective Equipment
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $19.50
Maximum hourly: $27.50
