Role Overview
The Night Shift Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, performing reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting activities during overnight operations.
The role ensures the integrity of financial data, investigates discrepancies, and supports compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform ledger, bank, and account reconciliations.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable balances.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Review financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and management information as required.
- Monitor overnight financial transactions and ensure accurate recording.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
- Liaise with internal departments regarding financial queries and account reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audit requirements by providing relevant documentation and information.
- Assist in the development and improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
- Perform ad hoc accounting and finance duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience using accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively during night shifts.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of UAE accounting practices and VAT regulations is advantageous.
