Responsibilities

  • Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale.
  • Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide.
  • Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low.
  • Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues.
  • Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in fundamental networking technologies and protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, DHCP, IPSec, GRE, Wi-Fi standards, DNS, Radius)
  • 2 years of experience with wireless technologies.
  • Experience with 802.11 Wi-Fi standards, 802.1X access control and DHCP/IPv6 SLAAC.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
  • Experience with the triage of network issues, identification of root causes, and generation of Methods of Procedure (MOP) for network repair.
  • Foundational skill set in network automation, scripting (e.g., Python, Go), and standard network operational tools.
