About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Museum Education Programmes Section Head to lead the development and delivery of innovative, audience-focused educational initiatives. This role is central to shaping engaging learning experiences that connect diverse audiences with the museum’s collections, exhibitions, and mission.

As a key leader within the museum, you will drive educational strategy, oversee programme delivery, and collaborate across departments and with external partners to ensure impactful and inclusive learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership & Development

• Design and oversee a diverse portfolio of educational programmes for schools, families, adults, and community groups
• Ensure all programmes align with institutional goals and reflect best practices in museum education and pedagogy
• Lead the planning and delivery of workshops, lectures, events, and outreach initiatives

Team Leadership & Operations

• Recruit, manage, and develop education staff and volunteers
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
• Oversee departmental budgets and ensure effective resource allocation

Partnerships & Engagement

• Build and sustain strategic partnerships with schools, universities, and cultural organisations
• Represent the museum at conferences, public programmes, and community events

Evaluation & Impact

• Establish and track KPIs to measure programme effectiveness and audience engagement
• Produce reports and insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement

Cross-Department Collaboration

• Work closely with curatorial and exhibition teams to create meaningful interpretive content and gallery experiences

Funding & Development

• Identify funding opportunities and contribute to grant writing
• Support fundraising initiatives in collaboration with the development team
