Mojave STEAM Mentor Application - Fall 2026

The Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) is seeking enthusiastic STEAM after-school mentors to inspire K–8 students through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Mentors lead activities such as science experiments, engineering challenges, coding and robotics, creative art projects, and real-world problem-solving while helping students build curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.

Mentors earn $20.00 per hour and are required to attend paid, mandatory training prior to the start of the program.

KCSOS is hiring mentors for the Fall 2026 STEAM After-School Program in Mojave and California City .

The program runs Monday through Friday , September 8–December 11, 2026 .

There will be no programming on October 12, November 2, November 11, November 23–27 , or on scheduled school closure days.

Mentors work 3 hours per day :

College students and individuals interested in STEAM, education, or working with youth are especially encouraged to apply.

STEAM = Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics.
