About This Role
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly driven MLRO to oversee Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT) compliance activities across Bahrain and UAE operations within the Insurance sector.
The role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks, including Bahrain and UAE AML regulations, while acting as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities.
Responsibilities
- Act as the designated MLRO and primary liaison with regulatory authorities across Bahrain and UAE
- Oversee the AML/CFT framework including CDD, EDD, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring
- Lead ML/TF risk assessments and support Board-level compliance reporting
- Investigate suspicious activities and ensure adherence to non-tipping-off requirements
- File STRs/SARs with relevant financial intelligence authorities in Bahrain and UAE
- Monitor sanctions compliance in line with UN, Bahrain, and UAE regulations
- Implement and annually review AML, sanctions, and compliance policies and procedures
- Conduct AML risk assessments and strengthen internal controls based on identified risks
- Deliver AML training and awareness sessions across the organization
- Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inspections
- Maintain high standards of governance, integrity, and regulatory compliance
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an MLRO or Deputy MLRO role
- CAMS Certification or ICA Diploma in AML is mandatory
- Experience within the Insurance sector is preferred
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT regulations in Bahrain and UAE
- Experience in sanctions screening, suspicious transaction investigations, and regulatory reporting
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage confidential investigations with integrity
- Subject to regulatory Fit & Proper approval requirements in Bahrain and UAE
