About This Role
Overview
The Merchandise Planner is responsible for planning, analyzing, and optimizing inventory and sales performance across retail stores.
This role ensures the right products are available at the right time and in the right quantities to maximize profitability and minimize stock risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop seasonal and annual merchandise plans based on sales trends and business goals
- Analyze historical sales data, customer demand, and market trends to forecast inventory needs
- Monitor stock levels, sell-through rates, and inventory turnover
- Ensure optimal stock allocation across stores and warehouses
- Collaborate with buying, supply chain, and store teams for product assortment planning
- Track and manage OTB (Open-to-Buy) budgets
- Identify slow-moving and fast-moving items and recommend actions (markdowns, promotions, replenishment)
- Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports (sales, margin, stock levels)
- Support pricing and promotional strategies to maximize revenue
- Maintain stock availability while minimizing excess inventory
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Retail Management, or related field
- 3–6 years of experience in retail merchandising/planning (UAE experience preferred)
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, forecasting)
- Experience with retail ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Understanding of retail KPIs (sell-through, GMROI, stock turnover, markdowns)
- Strong communication and coordination skills
